Acelya Aslan has a Master’s degree in Psychology and is interested in the development of evidence-based mindfulness interventions for the treatment of addiction. As a PhD student in the Department for Addictive Behavior and Addiction Medicine (PI: Prof. Dr. Falk Kiefer) at the Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim, she is part of the Collaborative Research Center TRR 265 researching mechanisms underlying addictive disorders, specifically regarding losing and regaining control. She is also enrolled in the research training group GRK2350, where she takes regular classes to expand her knowledge regarding best practices in research.

In her free time, Acelya enjoys meditating, visiting art museums, taking ballet classes, and reading. She is also a psychotherapist in training and likes to employ psychoanalytic thoughts to address cultural phenomena.
