Nathaniel Glassy, ALM is a volunteer Research Fellow and Mindful Healthcare Scholar at CMC where is mentored by Paula Gardiner, MD, MPH. He is also a second year Ph.D student in the Population Health Sciences Program and a TL1 Predoctoral Fellow at the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science at UMass Chan Medical School where he is mentored by Bo Wang, Ph.D and Jeroan Allison, MD, MS.
Nathaniel’s main research interests include substance use, mental health, and behavioral interventions. His background is in neuroscience, clinical and translational research, and he has contributed to multiple clinical trials across neurology, cardiology, pulmonology, and infectious diseases. His work at CMC involves understanding patient experiences of chronic pain and changes in mind-body awareness during and after mindfulness-based interventions. His research at UMass Chan applies epidemiologic methods to study substance abuse and depression using nationally representative survey data. Additionally, his dissertation work examines how social and environmental factors, along with individual motivation, shape patterns of risk-taking behavior during adolescence.
