Strengthen Your Practice (SYP) Alumni Group
Maintaining and deepening your mindfulness practice
for coping with symptoms and promoting wellness
Location: Online via Google Meet—no software purchase is required but you will need Internet access and a video-enabled smartphone, tablet or computer. If you have trouble with technology, CHA instructors and/or volunteers can assist you.
Payment: Billed to your health insurance as group psychotherapy (Billing Code 90853). We encourage you to check with your health insurance provider regarding individual coverage.
Requirements: This group is only open to people living in Massachusetts. You must also be physically located within the state during the time of each group session. If you do not live in Massachusetts, please explore our options for community programs and live-online classes.
Enrollment in Strengthen Your Practice requires previous completion of one or more of the following groups at the Center for Mindfulness & Compassion:
Mindfulness Training for Primary Care (MTPC)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Resilience (MBCT-R)
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness Training for Living Well (MTLW)
Group Description:
Strengthen Your Practice (SYP) is a group therapy offered weekly for those who have previously completed an 8- or 9-week group or program at the Center for Mindfulness & Compassion. Offering more continuity than 8-week groups, SYP groups cultivate an ongoing mindfulness practice and apply it to improving emotional health and wellbeing. SYP groups also provide a warm place to connect with others in responding to life's challenges. SYP is a 12 week commitment, offered continuously, with an opportunity to re-enroll at the end of each session.
Each Strengthen Your Practice session includes:
A guided practice
Time to discuss the practice and personal challenges
Home practice assignments
The average group size is 6-10 people, with no more than 12 participants attending each group.

The group meets for 12 weeks in a row. The first session is a one-hour orientation, followed by 11 group sessions.
