Elana Rosenbaum, MS, MSW has been involved in the clinical application of mindfulness to medicine and psychotherapy for over 35 years. She is a psychotherapist, consultant and pioneering mindfulness teacher and faculty at The Center for Mindfulness, The University of Massachusetts Medical School. Elana helped establish the training program for healthcare professionals at the Center for Mindfulness, The University of Massachusetts Medical Center and was part of the team developing the mindfulness program at The Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at The Cambridge Health Alliance. In 1995 she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and subsequently underwent stem-cell transplantation. Her ability to thrive and embody mindfulness in the face of adversity led to the development of a mindfulness-based intervention for bone marrow transplant patients at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Emery University and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Elana leads trainings and workshops for PESI, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Omega, Rancho La Puerta and other professional organizations and groups, She has a private practice in psychotherapy in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a sought after mindfulness coach, teacher, speaker and research consultant. She has been featured in “Chronicle” on CBS and mentioned in many magazine articles including Yoga Journal, Health, Coping, and the PBS audio series, “Walking through the Storm”. She has authored three books applying mindfulness to daily life and chronic, life threatening illness.
